We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Programming
First off, apologies for the radio silence, it’s been a couple of months to slog through. The final day of the FIVB Level II course write up is coming and then my notes from the Coach Factor Performance Labs clinic with Daniele Santarelli, Ferhat Akbaş, Jacopo Cuttini, Luca Cristofani, and Giampaolo Medei.
Jim Stone
But I wanted to echo the AVCA’s sentiments in mourning the passing of Jim Stone… he had a weekly newsletter that had gone silent for a long time, and in his return he had mentioned the state of his health, but it was still sad to hear of his passing:

Jim is one of those big rocks, in terms of coaches… he gave so much to other coaches, and I was very lucky to have learned a lot from him, both through AOC’s excellent head coach certifications (https://www.theartofcoachingvolleyball.com/jim-stone-a-coach-who-made-a-difference/) and in person, when John Forman brought him over to England for a coaches’ convention in 2024.
The CEV Volleyball Cup 2026
In November, 2025, Volleyball Ireland brought Duane Dell’Oca in to run a quick workshop on becoming a broadcast commentary and/or analyst, and I’ll be making my CEV debut this evening at https://www.eurovolley.tv for the Galatasaray Daikin ISTANBUL vs C.S.O. VOLUNTARI 2005 match at 17:30 Irish time and then the second leg on March 18th.
Saint Patrick’s Challenge 2026
And last, but not least, I’ll be in the gym again, this time as an assistant coach on the senior women’s bench, for the Saint Patrick’s Challenge of Ireland vs Northern Ireland at TUD Tallaght on Saturday, March 14th (and then likely in the commentary booth for one of the U20 matches following it).
See you on the stream(s)!

Wishing you all the success in the broadcast and with the National Team!
